Convex Optimization Theory Applied to Joint Transmitter-Receiver Design in MIMO Channels

چکیده
Multiantenna MIMO channels have recently become a popular means to increase the spectral efficiency and quality of wireless communications by the use of spatial diversity at both sides of the link [1–4]. In fact, the MIMO concept is much more general and embraces many other scenarios such as wireline digital subscriber line (DSL) systems [5] and singleantenna frequency-selective channels [6]. This general modeling of a channel as an abstract MIMO channel allows for a unified treatment using a compact and convenient vector-matrix notation. MIMO systems are not just mathematically more involved than SISO systems but also conceptually different and more complicated, since several substreams are typically established in MIMO channels (multiplexing property) [7]. The existence of several substreams,

MIMO Transceiver Design for Multi-Antenna Communications over Fading Channels
In wireless communications, the use of multiple antennas for both transmission and reception is associated with performance gains of fundamental nature. One such gain stems from the spatial-multiplexing capabilities of wireless multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) channels: Many propagation environments admit several data streams to be conveyed in parallel over a single point-to-point link, set...
متن کاملOptimal Precoder Design for MIMO Communication Systems Equipped with Decision Feedback Receivers
We consider the design of the precoders for a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication system equipped with a decision feedback equalizer (DFE) receiver. For such design problems, perfect knowledge of the channel state information ( CSI) at both the transmitter and the receiver is usually required. However, in the environment of wireless communications, it is often difficult to provide suf...
متن کاملFundamental Capacity of MIMO Channels
We provide an overview of the extensive recent results on the Shannon capacity of single-user and multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. Although enormous capacity gains have been predicted for such channels, these predictions are based on somewhat unrealistic assumptions about the underlying time-varying channel model and how well it can be tracked at the receiver as well as...
متن کاملJoint Tx-Rx beamforming design for multicarrier MIMO channels: a unified framework for convex optimization
This paper addresses the joint design of transmit and receive beamforming or linear processing (commonly termed linear precoding at the transmitter and equalization at the receiver) for multicarrier multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channels under a variety of design criteria. Instead of considering each design criterion in a separate way, we generalize the existing results by developing a unifie...
متن کاملOptimal Transceiver Design for SWIPT in K-User MIMO Interference Channels
This paper investigates simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) in K-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) interference channels. In particular, the power splitting (PS) technique is leveraged at each receiver to divide the received signal into two flows, for information decoding (ID) and energy harvesting (EH), respectively. As a whole system, our objective is to mini...
